Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, as part of an official two-day visit to Algeria, laid a wreath today at the Martyrs’ Memorial and paid tribute to the fighters in the Algerian War of Independence.
Macut also visited the Martyrs’ Museum, dedicated to the fight of the Algerian people for freedom and independence.
The Prime Minister wrote in the guest book: “It is a great honour for me to pay tribute to the brave men and women of Algeria who fought fearlessly for the freedom of their homeland.
The people of Serbia have always stood in solidarity with the people of Algeria and owing to your sacrifice, today we have the opportunity to build our future together. We will forever remember your struggle, and the torch of freedom you lit will never be extinguished. Glory to the immortal fighters for the freedom of Algeria“.
As part of his visit to Algeria, the Prime Minister will meet with the country’s Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb and President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
In addition to the Prime Minister, the Serbian delegation includes Minister of Tourism and Youth Husein Memić and Minister without portfolio in charge of international economic cooperation and the social position of the church in the country and abroad and Chairman of the Mixed Committee with the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Nenad Popović.
