Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, talked today with representatives of the Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons of Serbia and the unions of the deaf and hard of hearing persons about improving their position and their quality of life.

Macut pointed to the exceptional importance of passing a law on records of persons with disabilities because this, according to him, will be the basis for more efficient exercise of rights of the deaf and hard of hearing citizens.
The Prime Minister stated that the lack of records is the main obstacle to providing an even better quality support to the deaf and hard of hearing persons.
The Prime Minister also underlined that the state allocates considerable funds for support to the deaf and hard of hearing fellow citizens and that there is a large number of measures aimed at supporting their everyday life.
According to him, it is important that the challenges faced by the deaf and hard of hearing are systematically resolved, which is why the continuation of the dialogue with representatives of the competent authorities and institutions is of great importance.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski and representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Serbian Pension and Disability Insurance Fund and the Serbian Health Insurance Fund.
