Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, was presented with the Order of Saint Stefan Štiljanović, the highest decoration of the Eparchy of Osječko Polje and Baranja, which was conferred on him today at the Patriarchal Court in Dalj, Croatia, by Bishop Heruvim of Osječko Polje and Baranja.

The Prime Minister stated that it is an honour and a privilege to be the recipient of such an order, which symbolises what is most noble and heartfelt – devotion to the people in the region.
Bishop Heruvim emphasised that the order is awarded to the Prime Minister of Serbia for the dedication and love he has shown towards the Serbian people in this part of Croatia and towards the Orthodox Church.
During his visit to Dalj, Macut first toured the Cathedral Church of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius with Bishop Heruvim, which was built on the foundations of a church dating back to 1715.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister visited the birthplace of Milutin Milanković, which was built in the mid-18th century and today houses a modern Cultural and Scientific Centre dedicated to the life and work of this world-renowned scientist.
After having been in a state of disrepair for decades, the building was thoroughly renovated and opened to the public in 2009 as a venue combining memorial and educational purposes.
