Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović met today, as part of her working visit to Uzbekistan, with the country’s Deputy Prime Minister in charge of investments and foreign economic relations Jamshid Khodjayev.
Mesarović assessed that this was one of the most constructive meetings, since a precise agenda of future activities aimed at strengthening trade and increasing the number of investments was defined.
The key topic we discussed was establishing a preferential trade regime for product groups with the greatest potential, so that both Serbian and Uzbek products would be even more competitive, she explained.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that the meeting particularly highlighted Serbia’s great competitive advantage, thanks to free trade agreements and preferential market access, which positions Serbia as a gateway to many countries.
For this reason, the meeting discussed new investments by Uzbek companies in Serbia, Mesarović said, adding that she expects the Deputy Prime Minister of that country to visit Serbia soon.
According to her, he will lead a large business delegation from Uzbekistan in order to implement the agreements as soon as possible and achieve significant growth in trade with Serbia this year.
