Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Serbia Naohiro Tsutsumi, expressing his belief that the Ambassador will significantly contribute to the further improvement of relations between Serbia and Japan through his engagement.

Government’s commitment to further enhance cooperation with Japan

Macut emphasised that Serbia attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Japan and expressed satisfaction with the cooperation to date, based on mutual respect and long-standing friendship.
He stressed the commitment of the Government of Serbia to further enhance and accelerate comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation, especially in the areas of economy, energy, investment, innovation, environmental protection and sustainable development.
During the talks, current joint projects were discussed, as well as opportunities for new investments that would further strengthen the economic and overall relations between the two countries.
The significant support that Japan provides to Serbia was particularly highlighted, which places this country among the most important bilateral donors to the Republic of Serbia.
Ambassador Tsutsumi said that Japan will continue to support Serbia as a safe and reliable long-term partner.
The Prime Minister also sent congratulations to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her party’s recent victory in the Lower House of Parliament and sent her an invitation to visit Serbia.
