Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, wished Serbian citizens a happy Statehood Day – Sretenje, one of the most significant dates in our history.
“This important holiday is an opportunity to proudly recall the First Serbian Uprising, which opened the way for Serbia’s independence, and the Sretenje Constitution, which represents the foundation of the modern Serbian state, its statehood and constitutionality.
At the same time, Statehood Day is a moment to pay tribute to the courage, wisdom and vision of our ancestors, whose feats remind us that freedom, unity and responsibility should be the permanent direction in the development of Serbia.
Only an economically strong and stable Serbia can be a reliable support in preserving national and state interests, as well as in building a better future for all our citizens.
Aware of the responsibility we bear, our obligation is to preserve stability, strengthen institutions and work in the interests of the progress and prosperity of Serbia,” reads Prime Minister Macut’s congratulatory message.
