Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, and Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Bela Balint today visited the Belgrade Astronomical Observatory, where they spoke with scientists who work every day, patiently and with dedication, on exploring outer space.

Macut said that the energy, knowledge and enthusiasm of the scientists working at the observatory once again reminded him of how important it is to invest in people who push the boundaries of science.
The Prime Minister noted that during the visit discussions were held on contemporary research, working conditions and future plans, as well as on how science can contribute to the development of society as a whole.
Support for institutions such as this, the Prime Minister said, represents an investment in knowledge and in the future of Serbia.
In Zvezdara, at an institution founded in 1887, a tradition of scientific excellence has been nurtured for almost 140 years. Today, the Belgrade Astronomical Observatory is part of numerous international projects and plays an important role in educating young people and in the popularisation of astronomy.
