Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Minister of Sport Zoran Gajić and representatives of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, the Sports Association of Serbia, the Serbian School Sports Federation and Arena Sport TV to discuss issues of essential importance for the development of school, children’s and overall sport in the country.

In a statement to the media after the meeting, Macut said that the current situation in which Serbia finds itself was analysed.
According to him, particular attention was devoted to the role of the School Sports Federation as the umbrella organisation, as well as to opportunities to improve the promotion of healthy lifestyles in schools.
The Prime Minister said that his wish is for physical education to be restored to a framework that corresponds to the importance of caring for the health of children and the health of the nation as a whole.
He emphasised that the goal is for the full importance of physical education to be restored from next year, for schools to once again become centres of healthy living, regular classes and extracurricular sports activities, in order to ensure healthy development and higher-quality upbringing for younger generations.
