All available state capacities on full alert due to heavy precipitation across country

Belgrade, 5 January 2026

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić visited this evening the Emergency Situations Sector of the Ministry of the Interior in view of heavy precipitation and severe weather that has affected a large part of the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

During the visit, the Prime Minister was briefed on the current situation on the ground, the measures undertaken by the line authorities and further plans aimed at protecting the lives and property of citizens. Particular emphasis was placed on the coordination of all services, preventive activities and the readiness of the system to respond in emergency circumstances.

Macut stressed that the Government of the Republic of Serbia is continuously monitoring the situation and remains in constant contact with all relevant institutions, local self-governments and emergency response services. All available state capacities are on full alert to ensure timely and effective assistance to citizens in affected areas.

The Prime Minister appealed to citizens to adhere to the recommendations of the relevant services and to follow official announcements, emphasising that the state will take all necessary measures to mitigate the consequences of the severe weather and bring the situation fully under control.
