40th BITEF theatre festival begins today

The 40th Belgrade’s international theatre festival BITEF will begin this evening with a carnival procession from the Trg Republike Square to the Sava Centre.
Authors, performers and participants of the street procession are members of the Serbian avant-garde theatre groups, and the performance takes inspiration from the best shows in the history of the BITEF festival.
The public will be able to enjoy some 15 performances until September 30, presented by theatre groups from Serbia, Canada, Germany, Indonesia, Russia, Switzerland, Spain, France, Denmark, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovenia and other countries.
This 40th BITEF will be opened with the dance spectacle “Body remix /Goldberg variations” which examines the extreme possibilities of the body when it is deprived of its wholeness. The performance will be held in the Sava Centre by the “Compagnie Marie Chouinard”, Montréal.
BITEF will be closed with “Ballet for Life” by Maurice Bejart, dedicated to the band “Queen” and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
