Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, today visited the University Clinical Centre in Niš, in which, as he said, more than €60 million has been invested in the last seven years.
Macut pointed out that this is the first integrated clinical centre that is actually at the university level, with all the elements of clinics that are there and with one building that functions uniquely.
The conditions for patients are extraordinary, and I assume that my fellow doctors are also satisfied. I think that the healthcare provided to the population here is at a high level, said Macut.
The Prime Minister assessed that investments in the University Hospital Niš in the last two years have been at a very high level, stating that this sends a message that the state cares about the health of the population, and that decentralisation is in place in this area in the country.
According to him, this requires an adequate number of employees, as well as raising their professional knowledge so that health services are at a high level in every part of Serbia.
He also visited the Niš Health Centre, which, as he pointed out, is impressive and represents the largest such facility in primary health care in the Balkans.
In my opinion, this institution is at the level of the Clinical Hospital Centre in Belgrade when it comes to the volume of services, the facility and the general structure it has, said the Prime Minister.
Director of the University Hospital Zoran Perišić stated that this health institution solves the health problems of more than two and a half million people in this part of Serbia.
According to him, after the construction of the new Clinical Hospital Centre Niš, in which more than RSD 6 billion was invested in the building and equipment, investments continued, and in the last two years the Ministry of Health has given the institution almost RSD 700 million for equipment and facilities.
