Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić stated today that members of the Serbian police participated in an international operation to suppress drug trafficking, in which 17 members of a criminal group were arrested in Spain.
Dačić stated that in this operation, which was carried out in cooperation with the Spanish, Colombian and Slovenian police, and supported by Europol, eight Serbian citizens were arrested and 1.1 tonnes of cocaine was seized, as well as a large amount of weapons and cash.
He pointed out that Serbian citizens were arrested in the territory of Spain, who are suspected of being members of a criminal group, providing logistics and equipment for receiving drugs transported from Colombia.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated that the Ministry of the Interior remains a reliable partner in the fight against all forms of transnational crime, especially in the fight against drug trafficking and the detection of members of criminal groups and their further prosecution.
