At the opening of the “BELTALKS - Belgrade Economic Talks” forum, which is being held today and tomorrow at the Belgrade Hyatt Hotel, organised by GLOBSEC, Prime Minister Macut emphasised that the very name of this conference contains the key to solving our greatest challenges today.
The Prime Minister underlined that talks are the only way to face problems, and added that they are necessary - both within Serbia and between Serbia and its European partners.
That is why events like this are extremely important and I would like to highlight once again the importance of holding such conferences, the Prime Minister pointed out.
Prime Minister Macut said that Serbia is fully committed to its European path.
Reforms and their implementation are binding for us, not only because someone is asking us to do so, but also because we firmly believe that achieving European standards is key to improving the everyday lives of our citizens, said Prime Minister Macut.
The Prime Minister added that Serbia faces technical and political challenges on this path.
What we can do today, and that is exactly what we are doing, is to implement reforms and do everything to complete the technical part of this process. I will take this opportunity to ask you to support us in the second part - in political issues, because in the end, the decision to open a cluster is a political decision, the Prime Minister stated.
Prime Minister Macut assessed that Serbia is part of Europe and that the European Union cannot be complete without Serbia and the rest of the Western Balkans.
We are not just a dot on the map. We are an integral part of European culture. This region can bring the European Union more creativity, innovation, improvement of European security, but also offer its unique culture and heritage, Prime Minister Macut pointed out.
According to him, like every society today, Serbia faces numerous challenges.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the only way to emerge stronger is to talk, openly, honestly and persistently, until we find solutions.
There is no progress in barricades, no future in boycotts. My door, as well as that of the Serbian President, remains open to everyone and we are ready for dialogue at any time. Serbia chooses cooperation instead of division, dialogue instead of silence, and a common European future instead of any stagnation. Let us use this conference as a call to work together with even more trust, responsibility and ambition, the Prime Minister concluded.
BELTALKS is committed to strengthening cooperation and competitiveness across Europe and, through inclusive dialogue and practical cooperation, aims to improve policy coherence and competitiveness, offering new opportunities for alignment with the EU Growth Plan and the Clean Industry Pact.
“BELTALKS: Belgrade Economic Talks” will bring together more than 150 international participants this year, including senior EU officials, government representatives, business leaders and experts from the EU and candidate countries.
The discussions will focus on key economic challenges and opportunities in the region, with an emphasis on practical cooperation in a rapidly changing environment.
The event is organised by GLOBSEC, in cooperation with the embassies of Great Britain, France and Italy in Serbia, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Friends of Europe and other European partners.
