Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia Marcel Peško, emphasising that Serbia regards this international organisation as the most important security platform for dialogue.
Macut congratulated Peško on assuming his duties and added that Serbia supports the work of the OSCE Mission, with which it has had excellent cooperation since its establishment, based on mutual understanding and partnership.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the continuous support provided by the OSCE through assistance and cooperation in the areas of the rule of law, human rights and democracy, which are also important on Serbia’s path to full membership in the European Union.
The Prime Minister said that he supports the Mission’s further activities, jointly planned and aligned with Serbia’s progress and real needs on its reform path.
Macut welcomed the announcement of the OSCE’s support in providing assistance in preparing for the elections to the National Councils of National Minorities in 2026, judiciary reforms and environmental governance, as well as the development of a new media strategy.
He noted that Serbia has taken a serious and responsible approach to implementing the ODIHR recommendations regarding amendments to the Law on the Unified Electoral Roll, media laws and the election process for members of Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM).
Peško assessed the organisation’s cooperation with Serbia as exceptionally good, noting that the country can count on support in democratic reforms, security and the rule of law.
