Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia Matilde Mordt to discuss ongoing and future projects that the government is implementing in cooperation with UN agencies.
Macut emphasised that the Government of Serbia appreciates the support that UN agencies provide in various development sectors, adding that Serbia is a reliable partner of the United Nations.
The Prime Minister stressed that these are important projects that improve the quality of life for citizens, strengthen institutions and contribute to social stability.
The partnership between Serbia and the United Nations, as he stated, brings long-term changes through cooperation that connects global goals with the needs of people in local communities across the country.
During the talks, special attention was paid to the areas of sustainable development, green economy, renewable energy sources, digitalisation, demography, improving support for children and families, strengthening gender equality and supporting youth.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia said that the results of the partnership between Serbia and the United Nations are visible in many areas, as is the strong commitment of the Government of Serbia to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and setting priorities in work, with the aim of providing citizens with better services and equal opportunities.
The United Nations will continue to support reform processes and the strengthening of institutional capacities in Serbia, Mordt said.
The interlocutors agreed to continue good cooperation in the implementation of common goals, with a focus on concrete results that contribute to a better and more equitable society.
