Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić met today with Nikolai Borisov, Head of the Office of the Minister for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters of the Russian Federation, to discuss further enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the field of emergency situations.

Dačić and Borisov emphasised that timely action by fire and rescue units is of utmost importance in order to minimise risks to human life and health, property, or the environment, and to mitigate the negative consequences of disasters as quickly as possible.
The interlocutors noted that continuous training of firefighters and rescuers, strengthening the technical capacities of fire and rescue units, and taking preventive measures are key to preventing threats to citizens’ health and to the effective management of disasters.
