Serbia key partner for France in Western Balkans

Belgrade, 17 October 2025

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Ambassador of France to Serbia Florence Ferrari to discuss the further development of bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of economy, education, culture and green transition, as well as opportunities to deepen the long-standing friendship between the two countries.

During the Ambassador’s first visit, the Prime Minister particularly emphasised the importance of French investments in Serbia, as well as cooperation in the areas of infrastructure and energy.

He expressed gratitude to France for the support it provides to Serbia on its path to full membership in the European Union and reiterated that the government remains firmly committed to implementing the necessary reforms.

We recognise France, as one of the founders and most influential members of the EU, as a very important partner whose support would greatly assist us in accelerating the pace of the negotiations, underlined Macut.

The Ambassador emphasised that, like her predecessor, she will strive to contribute to the further development of friendly relations and that Belgrade is a key partner for Paris in the Western Balkans region.

Political dialogue and cooperation in numerous sectors remain high on the common agenda, the interlocutors agreed, emphasising that it is necessary to continue strengthening ties between the two countries.
