Speaking at a press conference following the visit to Banjica swimming pool, Dinkic said that the National Investment Plan envisages investing 46.618 million dinars in development of sports and its infrastructure. Apart from these funds, the government set aside another 2 billion dinars from the budget for development of sports.
In addition to the development and reconstruction of many smaller sports facilities in Serbia, the state's priority in the upcoming period will be the construction of an athletic stadium in Belgrade, worth €2.5 million, as well as a €1 million investment in the construction of a gymnasium hall at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education.
Other priorities are the construction of a national tennis centre in Belgrade, a sports hall in Pancevo, the reconstruction of running tracks in Uzice and on Mount Zlatibor, as well as the renovation and modernisation of the indoor swimming pool at Banjica, worth €2.6 million, the Minister said.
Minister of Education and Sport Slobodan Vuksanovic said that the Ministry of Education and Sport wants to create good conditions for the youth and citizens to take part in sports, as it is already doing with professional sports. He said that Banjica sports centre is a good example showing that investment in sports centres is worthwhile.
He said that the Serbian government, the competent ministry and the city of Belgrade set aside €1.5 million for the reconstruction of Banjica swimming pool for the upcoming water polo championship.
