Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Serbia Anke Konrad to discuss strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Macut expressed gratitude to Germany for supporting Serbia on its path towards the European Union, as well as for cooperation in the field of business and economy, where Germany is one of Serbia’s most important partners.
The Prime Minister emphasised that cooperation with Germany is of exceptional importance for Serbia, which is committed to improving bilateral relations in all areas.
Macut noted that Germany is a pillar of the European Union and expressed his expectation that political cooperation will intensify in the coming period through the exchange of high-level visits.
He expressed his belief that the German government will continue to support the countries of the Western Balkans on their path to joining the European Union, as well as the stabilisation of the region.
The Prime Minister reiterated that for the Republic of Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija is an issue of the highest national importance, and the continuation of the dialogue remains the way to resolve all outstanding issues.
Macut pointed out that the extremely difficult position of the Serb community in Kosovo and Metohija and the fact that Priština still refuses to fulfil the obligations assumed under the Brussels Agreement should be taken into account.
