Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with a delegation of the People’s Republic of China, led by Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Peng Qinghua.
Macut stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between Serbia and China and building relations with a shared future, emphasising the exceptional friendly relations and very good cooperation between the presidents of the two countries – Aleksandar Vučić and Xi Jinping.
He pointed out that bilateral cooperation between Serbia and China is currently at the highest historical level, that Serbia attaches great importance to nurturing the iron-clad friendship with China, as well as to joint projects that contribute to the economic development and well-being of the citizens of the two countries.
The Prime Minister emphasised the continuous improvement of cooperation between the two countries in key economic and political areas, and added that Serbia and China are linked by extremely important projects of strategic importance in the areas of transport infrastructure and railways.
Macut emphasised that Chinese investments are of exceptional importance for Serbia’s economic growth and that the projects being implemented are an important foundation for strengthening economic cooperation.
According to him, great potential for cooperation in the coming years lies in the areas of artificial intelligence, high technologies, legislation, healthcare, green energy, agriculture, education and culture.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to China for its support and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, as, as he stated, Serbia also supports the one-China policy.
The Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress stressed that China recognises Serbia as an important friend and partner and will continue to support the country's peace, stability and development, as well as its efforts to preserve its sovereignty and independence on the international stage.
He stressed the importance of the recent visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to China, who attended the parade marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, as well as the continuation of dialogue at the highest level.
The interlocutors concluded that Serbia and China will continue to deepen their partnership through joint economic projects and close political cooperation, in the spirit of friendship and mutual support.
