Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Serbia Anne Lugon-Moulin to discuss opportunities for advancing bilateral relations.
Macut underlined that Serbia greatly values its relations with Switzerland and expressed interest in continuing political dialogue and high-level meetings.
Regarding economic cooperation, the Prime Minister noted that in recent years it has intensified across all sectors and reached record levels, but that there is still room for further deepening.
He emphasised that Switzerland is among Serbia’s most important economic partners, with many companies successfully operating and employing a large number of citizens.
Special attention at the meeting was devoted to enhancing cooperation in the fields of science and technology, education and youth professional training, innovation and digitalisation, including joint projects in university exchange and research.
The Prime Minister stressed that Switzerland’s experience in dual education is invaluable for Serbia and expressed gratitude for the support provided in the reform of the education system.
The interlocutors also discussed the current situation in Serbia and agreed on the need to initiate dialogue aimed at reducing tensions in society, as well as that violence is unacceptable.
The Ambassador expressed Switzerland’s readiness to continue supporting reforms in Serbia and its path towards European Union membership.
She recalled that the Swiss Confederation was the first to confirm participation in Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade.
The interlocutors agreed that the continuation of joint projects and regular dialogue are of great importance for further deepening cooperation and creating new opportunities in the interest of the citizens of Serbia and Switzerland.
