First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali said today that an extraordinary raise on 1 October will bring the minimum wage to €500, adding that talks are under way within the Socio-Economic Council on a regular minimum wage adjustment as of 1 January 2026, with the government to propose an increase to €550.

In a televised interview with Pink, Mali said that the goal is for the minimum wage to reach €650 by 2027.
Recalling that the average salary in Serbia stood at €920 in May this year, Mali noted that growth in real terms is key, with the final decision on amounts to be announced by 15 September.
The First Deputy Prime Minister also emphasised that for the time being, Serbia’s economy continues to expand, despite all blockades, with the unemployment rate at 9.1%.
He announced a new package of economic measures for citizens, explaining that it will involve higher average wages and lower prices, creating a double positive effect on living standards.
