Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić stated today that Serbia will send international humanitarian assistance to Montenegro to help extinguish a fire at the Đurkovići-Rogami site near Podgorica.
Dačić said the assistance will be sent at the direction of the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić and in accordance with the Agreement between the Government of Serbia and the Government of Montenegro on Cooperation in Protection from Natural and Other Disasters.
He specified that the Ministry of the Interior will deploy its largest helicopter, a Kamov type with a payload capacity of five tonnes, given the large number of fires currently threatening vast areas of Montenegro.
According to him, six members of the Helicopter Unit and one member of the Sector for Emergency Management will be sent to Montenegro.
The first task will be to extinguish fires in the vicinity of Podgorica, though Serbia is certainly ready to respond to emergencies throughout Montenegro’s territory, he underlined, adding that Serbia also has capacities prepared for potential fires at home.
