Speaking at a press conference at the Serbian government, Matic said that the aim of this programme is to give support to exporters and companies that successfully cope with demands of the European and other markets.
According to Matic, the grants will be allocated through a public competition for the development of marketing activities aimed at foreign markets, such as market research, participation in international economic fairs abroad, product design, packaging design, product testing and certification, introduction of the quality system etc. The total budget of the programme is 100 million dinars.
Matic said that the grants will cover up to 50% of the costs of the entire project. An individual grant that can be allocated to a single company ranges from 250,000 to 2.5 million dinars.
She said that the competition has been announced in all media in Serbia in which companies are asked to submit applications for receiving this help, and the deadline is September 19. Public opening of applications submitted will be held on September 26, while the deadline for submitting demands for payment of grants is December 20.
SIEPA Director called upon companies to respond as soon as possible since if there is major interest, grants will be distributed in the order in which applications are received.
Owner of the company “Enterijer Jankovic” Bozo Jankovic, whose firm is one of the beneficiaries of grants provided in an earlier SIEPA programme, said that his company used those grants for introducing prgrammes ISO 9001 and ISO 14000.
He specified that this company has offices in Russia, England, United Arab Emirates, and France. He recommended to owners of companies that it would be advantageous to every firm to raise the standard of products to a European level and that certificates are not just a formality.
Jankovic stressed that those firms which do not possess certificates have no chance of doing business in a foreign market.
