Government actively participates in celebration of 200th anniversary of Matica Srpska

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, visited Matica Srpska in Novi Sad today, where he discussed plans for the celebration of a great jubilee - 200 years since the founding of this institution - with the leadership of this oldest scientific and educational institution in our country.

President of Matica Srpska Professor Dragan Stanić PhD, informed the Prime Minister in detail about the activities that will follow in this regard, and suggested that he become a member of the organising committee that will coordinate all activities on the implementation of this plan.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for everything that Matica Srpska is doing in the cultural and scientific field for our people and highlighted the Government's readiness to actively participate in the implementation of the proposed programme to mark the two centuries since the founding of Matica Srpska.

After the meeting at Matica Srpska, Macut also visited Sremski Karlovci, where he discussed with President of the Sremski Karlovci Municipality Dražen Đurđić the most important projects planned for implementation in this municipality.

Considering the historical importance of Sremski Karlovci, as well as the special legal status of this municipality, it was concluded that the Government will provide support for their implementation.
