Strengthening trade, investment ties with Mexico

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali met today with Ambassador of Mexico to Serbia Carlos Félix Corona to discuss opportunities for economic cooperation and improved business connections between the two countries through their chambers of commerce.

Mali emphasised that Serbia remains committed to the process of joining the European Union and is working to meet all regulatory requirements by 2026, while in the meantime leveraging the potential of an EU neighbour country through trade agreements that reduce customs duties, taxes and fees for businesses.

He also informed Félix Corona about the progress of the construction and organisation of Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade, noting that 110 countries have confirmed their participation so far, with expectations that this number will rise to 130, in what will make the Belgrade Expo the largest international specialised exhibition to date.

Félix Corona noted that the two economies should be more closely connected through chambers of commerce, expressing Mexico’s interest in strengthening relations with Serbia and bringing its businesspeople to explore significant cooperation potential.

The two officials also highlighted the importance of political dialogue on a global scale, with Mali stating that Serbia would be honoured by a visit from the President of Mexico.
