Loncarevic told a press conference that 320 inmates refused breakfast today as well, and 13 inmates refused to have their lips unsewed, whereas others have been given medical assistance.
As for yesterday's protest, Loncarevic said that it is a synchronised action in which several employees took part, adding that the guard who helped smuggle in a mobile phone to take photos that were afterwards published in certain media, will face criminal charges.
Loncarevic confirmed that housing conditions in the district prison are below EU standards and in this sense the inmates' protest is well-founded, having in mind that the capacity of the prison is 450 inmates, whereas it currently holds 770.
He stressed however that he cannot agree with the inmates' demands that due to severe conditions, one day spent in prison be counted as two, because that would imply a kind of "beneficial type of years of service", non-existent in legally developed states.
According to Loncarevic, the reconstruction of the district prison will continue and the first step ahead is to come in the next three months.
