Kojadinovic, who is attending a regional forum named “Heritage and Communication: a new vision of south-east Europe” regarding the revitalization of cultural corridors of south east Europe, said that he will inform participants of the gathering that began on May 31 and will continue until June 2, on results achieved by the Serbian Ministry of Culture in the area of reviving cultural corridors and protection of cultural heritage on the territory of Serbia.
The Minister, who is participating in the conference as special envoy of Serbian President Boris Tadic, said that concrete plans for reviving cultural heritage sites in areas that connect certain parts of Europe and Asia, and methods for upgrading cooperation in that field were also discussed at the conference.
He stressed the importance of cultural cooperation in south east Europe, and added that he held talks in Opatija with Croatian President Stejpan Mesic and Albanian President Alfred Moisiu, as well as with presiding member of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina Suljeman Tihic.
The conference was also addressed by Director General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura. UNESCO offers great financial and moral support for the renovation of cultural heritage in the Balkans and Europe in general, said Kojadinovic.
The forum on cultural heritage in Opatija will conclude tomorrow, when the text of the joint declaration by leaders of south east European countries will be agreed upon.
