As part of the Days of Slavic literacy and culture observed at the Russian Centre in Belgrade and at the Faculty of Philology, a series of cultural events which lasted for two days and which were held to mark a holiday dedicated to Cyrillus and Methodius were finished late yesterday.
President of the Slavic society of Belgrade Bogoljub Stankovic paid homage to Professor Vitomir Vuletic on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the publishing of the book "In the Russian-Serbian literary and historical space." Meritious professors and students were given recognitions.
In addition, ten year-book "Slavic Studies" was presented, as well as a compilation of works "Eleven years of Polish studies in Serbia", with the participation of language experts.
The State Drama Theatre of Saints Petersburg "On Neva" staged Anton Chekhov's "The Bear" in the Russian Centre in Belgrade. The troup was headed by Tatjana Savenkova and it gathered 32 actors, including Svetlana Popova, Vjaceslav Vavilon and Valerij Bockin.
The promotion of the book "Slavic and Serbian Studies" was also held as part of the Day of Slavic Literacy and Culture. It was written by Moscow professor Vladimir Pavlovich Gutkov and dedicated to Serbian linguist Pavle Ivic. It has been translated into Serbian by Vukosava Ivetic.
A concert of Bulgarian musician Biser Kirov was held after the promotion.
