Serbian Minister of Culture Dragan Kojadinovic and French Ambassador to Serbia-Montenegro Hugues Pernet visited today the Yugoslav Film Archives in Kosutnjak, and were acquainted with the course of works being conducted on the upgrade of the depot of this institution.
Kojadinovic said that this extremely important facility, which will significantly improve the conservation of international and Serbian film heritage, is being financed with a donation made by the French government and funds provided by the Serbian government.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the French government for the help, and stressed that the French government offers Serbia excellent cooperation and friendship, and has continued to display an understanding of Serbia’s problems and the desire to help.
Director of the Yugoslav Film Archive Radoslav Zelenovic conveyed his gratitude to Kojadinovic and Pernet for their personal efforts in securing funds for such a major facility whose construction will solve the most sensitive problem of the institution.
Zelenovic stated that it is estimated that according to the total number of films in the archive it is among the top ten in the world and has one of the five most important collections in the world, and approximately 80% of the collection belongs to world cultural heritage.
He voiced hope that works on upgrading the depot will be completed at the latest by August this year.
