Speaking at a press conference held after the government session, Naumov said that the government will do its best to ensure the
Bill on ratification be adopted in the parliament in emergency procedure in order to enable that the Treaty comes into force by June 9, when a ministerial meeting of member countries of the energy community will be held in Zagreb.
He recalled that the
Energy Community Treaty will become valid after being ratified by all state parties, noting that two countries have done that so far.
Naumov pointed out once more that this is the first and so far the only agreement which the European Union has concluded with countries that are not its members, with the aim of regulating the panenergy market in Europe.
In the perspective of European countries, especially Serbia, the most important is security of supply, for which reason a unique market of energies is being created - electricity, natural gas and alternative sources, the Minister explained.
Naumov concluded that Serbia, with its activities in
Brussels concerning the Balkan energy convention and energy community, has proved that when it comes to energy it has already become an integral part of the European community, and added that this is helping to further political approximation of Serbia to the EU.
