"Jasenovac" mine very important for Žagubica, Braničevo district

Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said today, during his visit to the brown coal mine "Jasenovac" in Krepoljin, which operates within the Public Enterprise for Underground Coal Mining "Resavica", that the mine will continue to operate and that the miners will have security and certainty.

Vučević, who visited the mine together with Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić, also said that decisions on the opening of any new mine will be made very carefully.

He pointed out that he knows that the miners' families live from this difficult and high-risk job, adding that this mine is important for the municipality of Žagubica itself and for this part of the Braničevo district.

The most important thing is that our miners know that we respect them and that they will have support to work. Without the support of the state, Public Company Resavica would hardly be able to survive under all the circumstances that were inherited, the Prime Minister pointed out.

Vučević expressed his belief that the next period will prove the justification of this support, as thanks to these miners and mines we have electricity and energy security.

The Prime Minister reiterated that decisions on the opening of new mines will be made very carefully, stating that only one mine has been opened in Serbia in the last 21 years.

There will be no digging in Serbia, but we will make every decision after detailed studies and analyses, first of all taking into account the health of citizens, environmental protection and economic interests, Vučević said.

He pointed out that the most important message he wanted to convey to the miners was that his gratitude to them is permanent and that, as long as this policy is responsible for Serbia, they will respect and protect their health.

The Prime Minister also visited the final phase of works on the bridge on the Crnica river in Sisevac, in the Paraćin municipality, then a new facility of Hotel Biogor in Sisevac Terme, as well as part of a new local road.

On that occasion, Vučević pointed out that every bridge and every kilometre of road is equally important for the sake of the same goal - to make Serbia a better and safer place to live.

He underlined that two conditions must be met in order for domestic and foreign tourists to come to Sisevac Terme - the first is to build facilities such as Hotel Biogor, and the second is to build infrastructure so that people can easily, quickly and safely come here.
