Naumov told a press conference that the Serbian people paid its debt to civilisation through the works of its great scientists Nikola Tesla, Mihajlo Pupin, Jovan Cvijic, Milutin Milankovic and Stevan Mokranjac. The Serbian government's committee for marking this anniversary, whose co-presidents are Minister Naumov and Minister of Science and Environmental Protection Aleksandar Popovic, is organising the celebration.
Naumov recalled that Tesla's inventions, such as the polyphase electric current and induction motor, are among the 200 epochal inventions which modern civilisation is founded upon.
Minister Popovic announced that the high point of the celebration will be an academy scheduled to take place on Tesla's birthday, July 10. A number of renowned domestic and foreign figures from the world of science, culture, politics and business will attend the academy.
Popovic added that at the same time a number of exhibitions will be organised in cities outside Serbia, as well.
A monument to Tesla will be put up in Belgrade as well as a fountain constructed according to Tesla's patent in front of the Nikola Tesla Museum.
The Serbian Assistant Minister of Education and Sport and president of the expert team for marking the jubilee, Vesna Fila, said that in all elementary schools in Serbia, literary and art competitions themed "Tesla – A Fairy Tale About Electricity" are taking place under the auspices of the Serbian Electric Power Industry. The aim of these activities is to acquaint students with the work of this exquisite Serbian scientist.

Director of the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) Aleksandar Tijanic said that Tesla, along with his discoveries, belong to humankind and noted that one of the dimensions of the jubilee should be his Serbian origin.
A high quality clip dedicated to Tesla needs to be recorded and broadcast on a big international network so as to remind the world of the 150th anniversary of Tesla’s birth as well as of his origin, Tijanic said.
A scientific event at the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences dedicated to Tesla and his work will take place from October 18 to 20 as well as an exhibition at the Matica Srpska Gallery in November with exhibits and photos from the life of the famous scientist.
