Prime Minister Miloš Vučević spoke today with Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia Jan Braathu about cooperation in areas that are essential for the further progress of our country, especially in the field of European integration.
The Prime Minister said that the past cooperation between Serbia and the OSCE Mission in Serbia is conducted in a friendly and partnership manner with mutual trust, and expressed the expectation that successful cooperation will continue, especially in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The Prime Minister emphasised that he appreciates the Mission's support in the comprehensive reform process in Serbia, including expertise in program areas such as democratization and media, strengthening of human and minority rights, and promotion of tolerance and non-discrimination.
Vučević pointed out that the policy of the government of Serbia is based on tolerance and respect for the rights of national minorities, and added that our country is a successful example for solving the issue of national minorities, as evidenced by the continuous work on improving laws and other acts related to the adequate application of language and writing national minorities and the representation of minorities in political and democratic processes.
The Prime Minister expressed concern about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, pointing out that the Serbs living there are exposed to various pressures, discrimination and provocations on a daily basis.
Vučević pointed out that dedicated work was done to implement the recommendations of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
Ambassador Braathu congratulated Vučević on taking office as Prime Minister of Serbia.
He emphasised that he will insist on a friendly and partnership relationship with Serbia and emphasised that he will pay special attention to the continuation of constructive cooperation, based on mutual trust, with the aim of implementing reforms.
