Prime Minister Miloš Vučević opened today the 91st International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, whose partner this year is the European Union.
On that occasion, Vučević said that Serbia's budget for agriculture has increased 3.5 times over compared to 2012, assessing that it is important that the EU is a partner of this year's fair.
It is a sign that we are not only receiving messages about what we should do, but also showing what the European Union has and brings to the benefit of our citizens, and that these are not protocols but things that change life for the better, he said.
The Prime Minister pointed out that agriculture is deeply rooted in Serbia and that it is important for the overall economy, noting that we have to fix some things, but that there is a will on the part of the European Commission to realise good and great things in our country and that these are European values.
European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski stated that this fair has a long tradition and that this year is particularly significant because the European Union is a partner.
For me as a commissioner, this is a great opportunity to be side by side in something that is important to all of us because agriculture is a part of life that we all depend on, he underlined.
Wojciechowski pointed out that this sector is facing growing pressures and must respond to new challenges, saying that Serbia will benefit when it is part of the agricultural EU family.
Prime Minister of the Provincial Government Maja Gojković pointed out that the Agricultural Fair is one of the world-famous symbols of Novi Sad, adding that it is important for all of us that this event also follows world trends this year and justifies its size.
Gojković expressed particular satisfaction that, in addition to the support of the Provincial Government, this 91st international agricultural fair has a strong support of the European Union.
