Deepening cooperation with EU in field of agriculture

Prime Minister Miloš Vučević spoke today, after the opening of the 91st International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, with European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski about deepening cooperation in that area and the EU PRO Plus Programme.

The interlocutor of Prime Minister Vučević specified that this programme, among other things, is a way to contribute to a more balanced socio-economic development of local self-governments, improve the management of territorial development and improve social infrastructure.

At the meeting, it was said that the EU provides significant financial resources to farmers in Serbia, mainly through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance to Rural Development (IPARD) programme, as well as that the EU is launching the third phase of the IPARD programme, which, with complementary private co-financing, can bring up to €550 million in investments in the agricultural sector in Serbia.

The Serbian Prime Minister emphasised that this is extremely important for the development of agriculture in Serbia, as well as the exchange of experience in that area with other countries of the EU, especially because of the potential offered by Vojvodina.

The meeting was also attended by EU Ambassador to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret, as well as Ministers for European Integration and Agriculture Tanja Miščević and Aleksandar Martinović respectively.
