Donation of Serbia for establishing Register of stem cell donors in Republika Srpska

Belgrade/Banjaluka, 28 December 2023

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said this evening at a donor dinner "With Love to Brave Hearts" that the Serbian government will donate €1 million to Republika Srpska, as well as all professional and technical assistance in order to establish a Register of hematopoietic stem cell donors.

This year’s humanitarian campaign has been launched with the aim of establishing the Register of hematopoietic stem cells donors of Republika Srpska, i.e., the establishment of a HLA typing laboratory at the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of Republika Srpska.

On that occasion, Brnabic pointed out that in addition to financial assistance, professional and technical assistance will also be provided, i.e. everything necessary for the establishment of the aforementioned registry and laboratory.

She pointed out that Serbia is making great strides in the field of innovation in medicine and science, and that through the development of innovative therapies within the BIO4 campus, the construction of which began yesterday, the goal is for Serbia to become one of the most important European and world centres for innovative therapies, clinical research and innovative medicines.

Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic also attended the dinner, as well as President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik.

Among the numerous guests was also Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zeljka Cvijanovic.
