The aforementioned document, which was signed at the international conference "The Future of Biotechnology", foresees that this company and the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation will work on establishing a startup accelerator that will use the horizontal platform and rich experience of "Ginkgo Bioworks" in order to support Serbian companies that develop biological products.
Within this accelerator, startups will be able to take advantage of the company's research and development (R&D) services from start to finish to make faster progress on projects that would otherwise require significant resources and infrastructure.
All startups and larger companies will have the opportunity to take advantage of the new BIO4 campus in Serbia, a key initiative that puts our country on the map of global scientific achievements as a new center for the bioeconomy in Europe.
Minister Jelena Begovic stated that this cooperation further strengthens the position of the BIO4 campus as an attractive place for research and development in the European environment.
She pointed out that the presence of "Ginkgo Bioworks", one of the most advanced biological companies in the world, within the BIO4 ecosystem will also mean benefits for other actors in this sector.
The Minister pointed out that the Government of Serbia, recognizing the economic and health benefits of the new biorevolution, aims to make Serbia one of the leaders in Europe in this field.
Austin Che, co-founder and head of innovation for startups in this company, said that the activities in the BIO4 campus and the dynamic ecosystem that is developing in Serbia represent an exceptional community with a common motivation to use biology to solve key challenges in the field of health, society and the environment.
