The protocol is a result of the previous dialogue and aims to confirm the continuation of cooperation on the achievement of the common goal, which is to equalise the starting salary of a teacher, i.e. an employee with a university degree, to the average salary in the Republic of Serbia by 1 January 2025.
The protocol states, among other things, the previous efforts of the Serbian government, which is the increase of the salary of employees in education by 12.5 percent in January this year and by 5.5 percent in September. It also states that the budget bill plans the increase in the salaries of employees in education by 10 percent from January 2024.
These cumulative increases amount to 31 percent for the period January 2023 - January 2024.
In addition to the planned salary increase of 10 percent for employees in education from January 2024, the Serbian government will amend the Regulation on the coefficients for the calculation and payment of salaries of employees in public services and raise the increase of the coefficient for the form teacher from 4 percent to 7 percent.
It is also stated that in the period from January 2020 to September 2023, 18,000 employees who worked on a fixed-term basis were transferred to permanent employment, as well as that from September of this year, the number of employees in schools on the positions of professional associates, secretaries, heads of accounting and other jobs has been increased.
