Full respect, care of government of Serbia for oldest fellow citizens

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke today with representatives of the Union of Pensioners of Serbia, the Association of Pensioners of Serbia "Nezavisnost" and the Association of Pensioners’ Unions of Serbia about numerous topics concerning the oldest population, and especially about the way to increase pensions.

At the meeting, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, Brnabic said that she supports the idea put forward by the representatives of pensioners about the formation of a national council for the care of pensioners, as well as the development of a strategy for improving the position of the elderly.

The Prime Minister pointed out that pensioners have the full respect of the government of Serbia, which strives to ensure and improve the daily life of the oldest citizens.

Mali recalled all pension increases in the past period and pointed out that today in Serbia they are growing faster than wages and that the Swiss formula plus has given the expected results.

He stated that through the extraordinary indexation of pensions, the desired goal is reached, which is that the average pension should not be below 50% of the average salary, adding that the average pension will be €450 by the end of 2025.

The representatives of pensioners said that they are satisfied with what has been done so far for that population, that care has been shown and the collapse of pensions has been stopped, while at the same time they understand all the difficulties that the state is faced with.
