Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today that work is underway to pass a set of new media laws and confirmed that a public debate on these legal solutions will soon begin, which will last as long as necessary.
In a guest appearance on "Prva" Television, Brnabic pointed out that last week she had several meetings with Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanovic as well as with Head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia Ambassador Jan Braathu.
She said that she will participate in the public discussion because these are important laws, and expressed her hope that during the next week she will meet with representatives of all media associations to discuss two important draft laws - on electronic media and on public information and media.
We will do this together with the OSCE, which is our long-term partner in this sphere, the Prime Minister explained and announced a meeting with representatives of the Press Council, which should play a significant role in creating a media strategy.
In the previous period, we worked hard and the working groups completed their part of the work. In the meantime, another important law was adopted - the long-awaited Law on Electronic Communications. Those are the three laws that are foreseen in the media strategy, after which the implementation of this strategy will be continued, Brnabic pointed out.
