Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Ahmed Attaf.
Sending greetings to Algerian Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane, who led the Algerian delegation at the commemorative conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in October 2021, Prime Minister Brnabic reiterated that our two countries are bound by traditional friendship and decades-long cooperation, founded in key moments of the anti-colonial struggle, when Belgrade and the then Yugoslavia supported the struggle of the Algerian people for independence.
The Prime Minister underlined Serbia’s permanent determination to further strengthen overall bilateral relations and cooperation with Algeria. There is scope for improving cooperation in a number of areas, including economy, culture, energy, modern technologies, digitization and others.
Brnabic pointed out that Serbia highly values the firm and principled position of friendly Algeria on non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo. The Prime Minister also congratulated Algeria on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
The officials reached an agreement that the relations between the two countries are of historical character because they are bound by decades of friendship and that both sides share a strong determination to vigorously strengthen relations and practical cooperation.
