At a press conference, following the signing of the Memorandum, Parivodic pointed out the significance of this document for Serbia as it expresses confidence in Serbia's economy.
This assistance is part of the Dutch programme of cooperation with countries of central and south-eastern Europe (PSO), which aims to encourage development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Serbia, the development of southeast Serbia and retraining of people who have lost their jobs and former military employees.
Bot said this Memorandum is a step forward not only in a technical sense, but also an expression of trust in Serbia's economic development that will attract yet more foreign investment into the country.
In 2001, Serbia and the Netherlands signed a Framework Memorandum on Understanding for realisation of the POS programme, with the aim of establishing economic cooperation between Dutch and Serbian companies.
Realisation of the programme has been defined through memoranda signed at the beginning of every year. In the last five years, through this programme the Dutch government has supported modernisation and production development in 30 Serbian companies.
In mid 2005, the Dutch government replaced the PSO programme in Serbia with a similar one called the PSOM programme.
