Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended today the opening of the new building of the Schneider Electric Hub in Novi Sad, saying that the company is one of the keys to the overall digitization of Serbia.
Brnabic pointed out that Serbia can serve as a research and development centre for the world’s largest companies, pointing out that we always mention the research and development centre of that company when we talk to all investors.
It is the best indicator of how much talent and knowledge we have in Serbia, but also a reference for all other companies to come, invest and open their development centres, the Prime Minister pointed out.
Thanks to Schneider Electric, as she added, every year we have an increasing export of ICT services because that company is one of the leaders in this regard.
Ambassador of the Republic of France Pierre Cauchard said that he is proud of the fact that the country’s investment will be key to the development of the quality of life in Serbia.
According to him, the opening of the new centre is a successful combination of Serbian technological knowledge and the French company Schneider Electric, a long-term partner of this country and one of the world leaders in digital transformation.
This centre is equipped according to the best standards of technology and energy efficiency and will be an exhibition space for Serbia, but also for the Schneider Electric Group as a whole, Cauchard said.
Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic expressed her belief that the work of this company will contribute to the realization of a modern, efficient network in the electric power system of Serbia.
Software produced in Serbia by Schneider Electric will be able to be implemented in our energy network to make it more reliable and efficient and to have fewer outages and to be able to reduce losses on our network. This means concrete savings for all citizens of Serbia, but also for the budget of the Republic, said Djedovic.
During the opening of the InGrid building, the Agreement on the improvement of the distribution network in Serbia was signed, so Schneider Electric Hub will be a partner in the state project of modernisation and automation of the medium voltage electric distribution network in our country.
I am sure that the new investment in the modernization of our electricity distribution system of €140 million will improve the supply of our citizens, as well as business entities, and significantly reduce losses in the network by several million euros per year, said Brnabic on the occasion of signing the contract.
Djedovic assessed that this is an important contract and the work ahead, bearing in mind that annual technical and non-technical losses on our electricity distribution network, will amount to almost €500 million.
Our goal is to reduce losses to around eight percent in the next five to seven years, which is the average in EU countries, Djedovic added.
The newly opened facility of Schneider Electric InGrid is supplied with green energy from its own production - solar energy plants installed on the roof of the facility, and the rest of the energy with a green certificate will be supplemented with purchases from the network.
It is estimated that about 20 percent of the total annual energy consumption will be obtained from its own production.
