Entire society responsible for fight against gender-based violence

Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Coordinating Body for Gender Equality and Minister of Culture Maja Gojkovic attended today, on the occasion of commemorating the Day of Remembrance of Women Victims of Violence, a multi-sector meeting on the topic of gender-based violence against women and family violence.

The goal of the meeting was to examine the possibility of improving the existing legal frameworks and how to continue the fight for a society of equal opportunities that has zero tolerance for any form of violence through joint efforts.

Gojkovic said that every institution, organisation, but also an individual bears part of the responsibility in that process.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that in the shadow of recent tragic events, when we are faced with hitherto unknown and unfathomable challenges in the fight against all types of violence, the government of Serbia and the Coordinating Body for Gender Equality are still guided by the vision of a society in which every life is precious and every woman and little girl safe and secure in enjoying all her rights.

According to her, the meeting was organised in order to discuss the possibilities of improving the existing legal framework in the field of gender-based violence in order to continue the fight for a society of equal opportunities and a society that has zero tolerance towards any form of violence.
