Prime Minister Ana Brnabic received today Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus Demetrios Theophylactou on a farewell visit, whom she congratulated on his very successful term as ambassador in Belgrade.
Brnabic underlined that our bilateral relations are based on firm friendship, mutual trust, historically confirmed closeness and solidarity of the two peoples.
At the beginning of the meeting, Theophylactou expressed his condolences to the Prime Minister on the occasion of the tragedies that occurred at the Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school and in Mladenovac.
The Prime Minister thanked the Ambassador in particular for the principled position of respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and the principled position of Cyprus during the recent examination of the request for the initiation of procedure for the membership of so-called “Kosovo” in the Council of Europe at an extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Ministers of that body, held on 24 April of this year.
The interlocutors agreed that the improvement of the bilateral cooperation in the fields of the economy, science, education, scientific research, IT and other should be continued.
The Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for the cooperation to date, noting that the relations will continue to develop in the future on the basis of solid friendship and trust of many decades.
