Prime Minister Ana Brnabic was presented today, at the ceremonial academy on the occasion of the Day of the City of Sabac, with the highest recognition awarded by that city, which is the Charter of Honorary Citizen of the City of Sabac.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Sabac is a city with a long historical, cultural and economic tradition and a city that has always had enormous strategic importance for our Serbia.
She also reminded of important figures who contributed to the development and culture of the city, from Jevrem Obrenovic, through Milorad Popovic Sapcanin, Janko Veselinovic, Stojan Novakovic, Drago Ljocic and many others.
According to the Prime Minister, a prerequisite for a strong and stable country, in addition to a solid economy, investments in health, education, science and everything else, is also an equal regional development.
The Prime Minister stated that Sabac is an example of a city on an upward trajectory, adding that the government strives to repay it for all that it has given throughout our glorious history.
Infrastructure is a prerequisite for development, she said and noted that in the last 10 years, we have had large investments in roads and more and more in modern railways and tracks.
Brnabic pointed out that one of the priority infrastructure projects is the construction of the Ruma-Sabac highway, a new bridge over the Sava and the Sabac-Loznica expressway.
The Prime Minister emphasised that this is why the year 2023 is particularly important for Sabac and that it will be recorded in our history as a year of prosperity for this city.
We have practically finished the bridge over the Sava, and by the end of the year we will also open the Ruma-Sabac highway. We are finishing the Sabac-Loznica high-speed road by 2024. The state will invest approximately €475 million in these projects, and that is what we owe to Sabac and its glorious history, Brnabic pointed out.
