Minister of Family Welfare and Demography Darija Kisic spoke in New York with Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Natalia Kanem about the cooperation so far and about the activities that Serbia and this fund will jointly carry out in the coming period.

According to Kisic, the Ministry has started work on drafting three strategic documents - strategies on aging, on preserving and improving sexual and reproductive health, and on encouraging childbirth.
She pointed out that a national survey is underway on the attitudes and thoughts of young people about marriage and family, which will show the direction of their thinking, but also be the basis of further policies to support young people and family planning.
The Minister emphasised Serbia's readiness to co-host with UNFPA the celebration of 30 years since the first international conference on population and family, which was held in Cairo in 1994.
Kanem underlined that Serbia is an excellent example of support to young people and families with policies and various population measures and that a lot can be learned from Serbia and applied in other countries.
UNFPA is always ready to support the creation of new ways, directions and methods aimed at supporting young people and their future, Kanem said.
