This project, in which €28 million have been invested, includes the construction of marinas in Smederevo, Veliko Gradiste, Golubac, Kladovo and Sombor, an international passenger pier in Banostor, as the one that was recently opened in Sremska Mitrovica, and as the one that is being completed in Sabac, he specified.
According to him, there are pontoons for line traffic in Sremski Karlovci, Novi Sad and Sombor, then pontoons for canal traffic in Novi Sad, Sombor, Apatin and Odzaci, and six eco boats will be purchased.
Vesic also said that until now we have not responsibly used 1,680 kilometres of waterways in the country, more than 610 kilometres of canal roads, two international rivers and one interstate river.
According to him, in the record year of 2019, we had 1,542 arrivals and then a total of over 208,000 passengers boarded and disembarked in Serbia, and last year there were 1,419 arrivals with 135,000 passengers.
Director of the Port Management Agency Vuk Perovic pointed out that, sailing on those rivers, travellers will have the opportunity to sail through various eras, see numerous cultural and religious objects, and learn about the diversity of confessions, religions and peoples.
He emphasised that the first step is the development of international cruises, stating that eight international passenger piers have been opened so far, three more will be opened by the beginning of the nautical season next year and we will apply for one international passenger pier in Banostor.
