Brnabic said that the presence of Cisco will enable our export of services to the USA to be even more significant.
Last year, we had great success in the information technology (IT) sector, we achieved a record export of €2.7 billion. The data from January of this year seem even better, and they show that we reached exports of €247 million, which is 42 percent more than in January 2022, Brnabic pointed out.
The Prime Minister noted that if it continues like this, Serbia can reach exports of €4 billion in the IT sector, which is the government's goal.
It is my great pleasure that I can be here today to mark the extremely important expansion of the company Cisco in Serbia. They have been present in Serbia for a decade as a company that sells its services. Today we celebrate their expansion and the establishment of a development team, which is important for Serbia's credibility. When Cisco produces something in your country, it means that you, as a country, are among the superpowers in the world of IT, the Prime Minister pointed out.
According to her, the employees who will be engaged in research will not only be in Belgrade, but also in the Science and Technology Park in Nis.
I believe that further expansion will lead many more American companies to open their research centres in Serbia, said the Prime Minister.
US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill said that he is very proud of the relations that are being built between the USA and Serbia, especially in the field of high technology.
There is no name more globally recognised name than Cisco, Hill added.
He said that in this case it is not only an investment by Cisco, but an investment of our countries in the young generation, and that, according to him, is a way to understand each other better.
Vice President of Cisco Odysseas Charalambous said that Cisco has been present in Serbia for 10 years, and that today is an opportunity to announce the company's new expansion, which will involve the employment of 50 more engineers.
With the help of the Silicon One product, routers will work faster and more economically. We expect to complete the hardware unit and to establish a laboratory soon, which will complete and expand our work in Serbia, said Charalambous.
